I am a graphic designer with an emphasis in new media design. Born in Baldwin, Michigan, I attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where I received an Associate's as well as a Bachelor degree in Visual Communications. In addition to a digital media focus, I had special emphasis in the subjects of English and art history.
I was enlisted in the US Army Reserves from the age of 17 until the age of 25, which helped pay for my schooling and instilled in me a sense of discipline and respect for hard work that I like to think is still intact. In addition to my one weekend-per-month, one week-per-year Reserves training, I held down jobs during my time in school in food service, retail, and sales positions, as well as a stint as an editorial writer for the school newspaper, the Ferris State Torch.
While earning my degrees at Ferris, I discovered that in addition to my continuing interest in writing and literature, I also had a passion for Art History. In the summer of 1999 I was chosen as part of a group of students to attend a two-week study abroad course in Italy. This trip, that included stays in Rome and Florence and day-trips to Pompeii, Fiesole (northern Tuscany), Pisa, and Venice, cemented my passion for fine art and art history, as well as travelling the world and dabbling in different languages.
